The Misperception of Politics

Politics were created to govern a nation in order to achieve an ultimate goal. This ultimate goal can be seen all throughout Pancasila as well as the UUD from 1945. Politics are also a tool used for getting power. It’s used for these leaders to get an upper hand in controlling the country for the better. Because of this, politics should be used for getting ideas and synergizing these ideas to achieve the nation’s goal. But in reality what happens is that politics divide people into groups. Instead of uniting us, it divides us. Which shouldn’t be the case. Politics exist for us together to reach a goal, it was never meant to split people apart. We often see politics to be a source of conflict, and while it has been for the most part, we should try to see it simply as a process that would, or at least should make a country better. Although individuals would have different opinions regarding political topics, we need to accept the fact that not everyone has the same perspective of things as we do. Which is perfectly okay. The whole reason why politics became such a big source of conflict is because people don’t accept the fact that others have opinions that differs from theirs.

It’ll be quite a journey to make politics as a tool of uniting instead of dividing. But I hope that in the end, it’ll be worth it. What’s needed to make this journey work is for every one of us tovbe more open-minded, to be more accepting of other opinions, to work together as a team in order to come up with a win-win solution and a solution that will help us make this country better overall. I’m writing this with the hope that people will realize why it’s important for us to view politics not as a source of conflict but rather as something that will help us progress. This is needed because we are a diverse nation consisting of so many different culture, values, social needs as well as standards. So it’s important for us to perceive politics as something that can help unite us, instead of making it as something that divides us.
